The Early Years
Miss Jade Sinclair debuted in the fall of 1997 during a fund-raiser for Delaware Pride - an
organization her male persona had helped establish. She appeared as 'Elise' in a
reproduction of 'You Don't Own Me' from the hit movie The First Wives Club. Though much
has changed since that day, the number was a smashing success for Delaware Pride,
packing the modest 814 Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Long loving theater and stage, but
never partaking, female impersonation would represent an outlet of the desires stirring
within. This first night seemed much easier than those that lie ahead, for this night was
offered with assistance: the face carefully painted by an established impersonator, the
outfit purchased with assistance to closely resemble the white attire worn by Goldie Hawn,
and the hair removed from a mannequin at a local salon and placed on her head.
However, creating the illusion of a true impersonator would require years of work,
guidance, and eventually independence - the ability to create a master illusion completely
on their own.
Jade quickly learned that starting a career in female impersonation was quite a daunting
task. A shy, humble boy raised in rural Missouri, Jade was incapable of asking for much
needed assistance. Asking for help one time and for a fund-raiser was completely
different than asking to be taught. As a result, progress was slow. Many evening nights
were spent applying the Cover Girl, snapping photos, cleansing the face, and trying again.
It was the interest in pageants that would lead to a marked change in Jade's progression
as an established female impersonator. Recognizing the need for assistance from a
veteran, Jade approached a highly respected individual for assistance: Kayrn Thomas - a
Delaware icon. Karyn's acceptance to help would ignite the stage for a close friendship
that exists today - even though 800 miles now separate the two.
Karyn was willing to help Jade, but more than Jade had hoped. First up: Costumes.
Though Karyn could have easily made them, she instead took the time to assist and
instruct - teaching Jade how to use patterns, cut fabric, and pull it together. When the talent
and sportswear outfit were completed, the gown selected and purchased, Jade set a night
aside for a full fitting of her ensembles. Karyn would be present. Karyn stepped up and
offered yet more assistance - with hair and makeup. In all, Jade had learned more in two
weeks than she had learned in months on her own. The pageant was Miss Wilmington
Newcomer, and though she did not win, she did win Evening Gown - and she was very
pleased at what she had accomplished with Karyn's help.
An unfortunate break up with her partner of over 4 years would cause to Jade move in with
Karyn, and continue the growth of their friendship, as well as Jade's career in female
impersonation. Working hard to refine her look, she also began to design and create an
entire wardrobe that continues to grow today.
Jade Sinclair would continue to work hard to establish her name. Entertaining at venues
across Delaware, she also entertained in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and southern New
Jersey. She competed for various titles, finishing as first alternate in numerous pageants,
and capturing the titles of Miss Heart of Delaware 2000 and Miss Diva Delaware 2001. A
slow progress, but one in which she was proud. While in Delaware, Jade formed
'Precious Stones Productions' and through the company promoted several pageants,
including Miss Delaware Pride, Miss 814, and Miss Northern Delaware.
A Change of Venue
Soon after capturing the title of Miss Diva Delaware 2001, Jade decided to leave Delaware
and return to her home state - Missouri - and settled in St. Louis. She would soon realize
that doing so would mean starting again at the beginning, for no one knew her or her
abilities. She got her foot in the door by entering amateur talent contests at Faces and
Blake's (now Korner's). At each venue, she caught the eye of the show director, and
opportunities to perform were presented. Jade continues to credit those that helped her
enter the St. Louis community: Patrina Marie, Candy Barr, Michelle McCausland, Tumara
Mahorning, and Erica Leigh Foster.
Since that time, Jade Sinclair has performed at virtually every venue available in the St. Louis
area, including: Blake's, Boxers and Briefs, Bubby and Sissy's, Clementines, The Complex,
Faces, The Grey Fox, Inside Out, Korner's, Magnolias, Novak's, The Spot, as well as other
venues across Missouri and Illinois.
3 years after moving to St. Louis, Jade decided to again enter the world of pageantry. Ever
fascinated by the America system and the emphasis on the art female impersonation, Jade
competed for the title of Miss Gay St. Louis America 2004. She finished as the first alternate,
and qualified for Miss Gay Missouri 2005. Eighteen contestants vied for the title of Miss Gay
Missouri 2004, and Jade finished as the second alternate - the highest placing newcomer to
the pageant that year. As a result, she was awarded the Newcomer Award. The following
year, Jade captured the title of Miss Gay St. Louis 2005, and would again compete for the
title of Miss Gay Missouri 2005. While not as successful as her first year, she again finished
in the top 10. In her third attempt representing First Alternate to Miss Gay Midtown, Jade
again finished as the second alternate.
Continuing to perform across St. Louis, and adding a monthly show in Quincy, IL, Jade
continued to work on her abilities. February 2007 would mark her debut in promoting in the
Miss Gay Missouri pageantry system, promoting Miss Gay St. Louis. Later in May 2007 she
captured the title of Miss Gateway 2007, and represented this title in her fourth apearance at
Miss Gay Missouri she captured the title with the assistance of a great team of supporters.
On July 29, she was crowned the 35th anniversary Miss Gay Missouri.
